Your direct deposit information will remain on your claim once you’ve entered it until:
- You remove it;
- You modify the information; or
- We remove it. We only take this action if the payment is declined by your bank or credit union.
The direct deposit remains ongoing even if you restart a claim unless you modify or cancel it.
The eServices website will provide you the choice to keep or modify your payment method if you open a new claim. Any account information on file will be withdrawn from your claim if you don’t select direct deposit, which will result in its cancellation.
Here are a few answers to some common queries about what time does unemployment direct deposit hit your account.
If my bank is located outside of the United States, can I still apply for direct deposit?
No. Only banks or credit unions in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, offer direct deposit. American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or any other foreign bank or credit union cannot receive direct deposit payments from us.
What would happen if I hadn’t chosen direct deposit when I first applied for unemployment benefits?
You must wait at least 24 hours after submitting your benefits application.
What will happen if I submit a new claim after having a direct deposit on an earlier claim?
The direct deposit remains in effect even if you restart a claim unless you modify or cancel it.
The eServices website will provide you the choice to keep or modify your payment method if you open a new claim. Any account information on file will be withdrawn from your claim if you don’t select direct deposit, which will result in its cancellation.
How soon after I sign up does it take?
Direct deposit starts working right away. One exception is that if you join up after 5 p.m. on a business day and payment is already prepared to be sent to you, you will get the money using your old method.
Your account will then immediately receive your subsequent payment.
How soon will I have money in my account?
A day after you file your weekly claim, we send benefits to your bank or credit union.
However, it can take a few days for your bank or credit union to deposit the money into your account.
My weekly payment did not appear in my account even though I have been receiving it via direct deposit. What shall I do?
Get in touch with your bank or credit union to find out whether an issue with your account stopped the deposit. We cannot track a payment until at least seven calendar days have passed since we issued it.
Is the security of my personal data good?
Yes. Our website is secure. The program times out and your data is not saved if you spend more than 15 minutes on any single page. By doing this, it is impossible for someone else to read your personal information. Your bank or credit union information is not accessible to employees of the Employment Security Department.
How can I modify, update, or terminate my direct deposit?
Take these actions:
- Click Settings in the top right corner of the screen after logging into your eServices account.
- Under I want to, click Update payment details.
- Comply with the guidelines
Will I receive payment receipts for direct deposits in the mail?
No. The deposits will be seen on your bank or credit union statement.
